Chairperson Lofgren issued the following statement upon the United States Senate’s vote to confirm James E. “Tray” Trainor III as a Republican Commissioner on the Federal Election Commission.

Chairperson Lofgren issued a statement upon passage of the Heroes Act, urgently-needed legislation to address the unprecedented coronavirus health and economic crisis. The bill included elections provisions, authored by Lofgren, which provide $3.6 billion to ensure that elections can be held safely in 2020 through expanded vote by mail and early in-person voting to preserve social distancing and prevent overcrowded polling places.

Chairperson Lofgren issued a statement applauding Governor Newsom’s executive order, which requires each county in California send vote-by-mail ballots to all registered voters ahead of the November 3rd election.
