Ranking Members Morelle, Raskin and Garcia Seek Testimony and Documents from WinRed
“WinRed’s opaque practices and failure to take fraud seriously raise a host of questions about the platform’s ability to deter fraud.”
WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration, Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Robert Garcia (CA-42), Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, demanded a transcribed interview with WinRed CEO Ryan Lyk following concerns about evidence that WinRed may be processing illegal contributions from foreign sources.
“The revelation that foreign nationals have used WinRed to donate money to President Trump’s campaign is profoundly alarming; reporting that WinRed has maintained poor anti-fraud practices that may have allowed bad actors to make fraudulent political donations, including from foreign sources, deepens the Committees’ concerns,” wrote the Members.
Public reporting indicates that the citizenship of only two donors living abroad, out of more than 200, was “listed as ‘verified’ in the president’s campaign finance reports.” The Committees also requested documents and information dating back to June 1, 2019. WinRed must produce the documents and schedule the transcribed interview no later than June 18, 2026.
Earlier this month, the Ranking Members launched an investigation into Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for his office’s failure to investigate widespread and credible allegations of fraud involving WinRed.
