Top House Dems Issue Joint Statement on House Republicans’ Attempt to Run, Deflect, Distract

April 2, 2025

WASHINGTON – Today, Reps. Joe Morelle (NY-25), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and Gerry Connolly (VA-11), the top Democratic leaders of the Committees on House Administration, Judiciary, and Oversight and Government Reform respectively, issued this joint statement following House Republicans’ distraction attempt cloaked as a so-called “report”:

“Yesterday, voters in Wisconsin and Florida demonstrated how broadly unpopular the MAGA billionaire agenda is with the American public, despite Elon Musk’s illegal efforts to buy votes, millions of dollars at a time. Our Republican colleagues’ response: a partisan attack on Democratic fundraising. As long as Republicans continue to attack Medicaid and Social Security, cancer researchers, labor unions, voting rights, and agencies that stand up for American consumers like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, they are going to sink into political oblivion. Today’s production by Republicans is less of a report and more of a desperate effort to change the subject. House Democrats will keep fighting and defending the integrity of American elections against violent insurrection, voter suppression, billionaire bribes, and foreign interference and corruption.”
