Top Dem Condemns Death Threat Against Leader Jeffries
WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued this statement condemning all forms of political violence following reports that a Capitol insurrectionist was arrested and charged with the crime of threatening to assassinate Leader Hakeem Jeffries:
“I am grateful to the women and men of the United States Capitol Police, and all of law enforcement, for their swift action in confronting this real and terrifying threat.
“The violent insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol on January 6th and were pardoned by President Trump, continue to be a clear and present danger to public safety.
“It’s clear that President Trump has made us less safe. It’s especially clear that all of my colleagues must emphatically denounce this and all instances of political violence.”
