Statement of Robert A. Brady on Election Reform Commission Chairs
February 12, 2013 (Washington, D.C.) Ranking Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, Robert Brady (PA-01), issued the following statement on the appointment of Democrat Robert Bauer, and Republican Ben Ginsberg to co-chair the independent presidential commission on election reform:
“By creating this commission, President Obama has shown a real commitment to fixing the problems with our voting system,” said Brady. “Mr. Bauer and Mr. Ginsberg are no strangers to the challenges faced by voters, poll workers, and volunteers on Election Day. Their charge to find ‘common-sense, non-partisan solutions’ and to ‘develop recommendations for state and local election officials to reduce waiting times at the polls and improve all citizens' voting experience’ is a welcome step in ensuring every eligible citizen is able to cast a ballot. In the last election, too many Americans waited hours to vote. We owe it to them to not wait on reform.”
