Ranking Member Robert A. Brady Issues Statement on Departure of FEC Commissioner Cynthia Bauerly
WASHINGTON (January 4, 2013) – Congressman Robert A. Brady, Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration today issued a statement on the departure of Cynthia Bauerly, a Democratic Commissioner of the Federal Election Commission. Bauerly announced her decision to leave the agency effective February 1st.
"As Chair of the FEC, Commissioner Bauerly fought hard to break the partisan gridlock that has for too long paralyzed the Commission," said Brady. "She was a force for good in an otherwise dysfunctional agency. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. It is my hope that Commissioner Bauerly's legacy of bipartisanship lives on at the Federal Election Commission so the agency can fulfill its statutory mission."
Bauerly joined the FEC in 2008 with the unanimous consent of the Senate. Bauerly served as Vice Chair of the Commission in 2010 and as Chair for 2011. Her professional experience includes positions in the private sector as a litigator and on Capitol Hill as legislative director for Senator Charles E. Schumer and counsel to the Senate Rules Committee and Senate Judiciary Committee.
