Ranking Member Morelle’s Statement on the Organizational Meeting for the Committee on House Administration
Washington, D.C. – Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Joe Morelle (D-NY) issued the following statement regarding the organizational meeting for the Committee on House Administration:
“I am honored and humbled to be the Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration for the 118th Congress. The Committee may be small in numbers, but it tackles several important issues essential to a functioning government.
“The wide-ranging jurisdiction includes administration of federal elections, oversight of the Library of Congress and Smithsonian, the security of the Capitol Complex, and House operations. Ultimately, we are stewards of the House of Representatives on behalf of the American people.
“There will not always be unanimity on this Committee, and there may be areas where we fundamentally disagree. However, it is my hope for this Congress we can find common ground and work together to do what is in the best interest of the House and the American people. I am grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with all of my colleagues.”
