Ranking Member Morelle Issued Statement on Passage of Congress Modernization Bill

April 1, 2025

WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued this statement celebrating passage of H.R. 1234, a Congress modernization bill that will curb unnecessary spending:

“I am pleased that H.R. 1234, a practical, forward-thinking bill passed the House. This bill will help eliminate unnecessary spending and modernize Congress by eliminating the requirement that the Congressional Research Service (CRS) physically print its Annotated Constitution. In a post-Chevron environment, we should reinvest those savings in CRS directly to enhance its capacity and support this institution.”
