Ranking Member Morelle on the Continued Public Release of January 6th Security Footage

Washington, D.C. – Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.) issued the following statement in response to the extreme MAGA Republicans decision to release more January 6th Capitol Security footage on Rumble:

“I remain appalled that Speaker Johnson and other extremist Republicans are weaponizing the powers of Congress as they try to rewrite the history of January 6th, which was a brutal, deadly insurrection. There is no defending it.

"Releasing thousands of hours of Capitol security footage on an extreme right wing social media platform – over the strenuous objections of the U.S. Capitol Police – remains unpatriotic. 

“I will continue to push back on Republican efforts to undercut the hard work of those charged with keeping us safe and compromise America’s national security. This is not transparency; this is dangerous and irresponsible.”
