Ranking Member Brady Pledges Support to Presidential Voting Commission

February 12, 2013

February 12, 2013 (Washington, D.C.) Ranking Democrat Robert A. Brady (PA-01) today applauded President Barack Obama’s commitment to ensuring all eligible Americans are able to exercise their Constitutionally protected right to vote. In his State of the Union Address, President Obama announced the creation of “a non-partisan commission to improve the voting experience in America.”

“I commend President Obama for recognizing and addressing the pressing needs facing our democratic process,” Brady said. “In December, I wrote the President to make electoral reform a priority of his second term and this commission is a great first step.

“Our system needs fixing,” Brady continued, “It is incomprehensible and inexcusable that eligible voters are turned away from the polls for any reason and I will do all I can to put an end to it. I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues going forward. “
