Ranking Member Brady Commends House Democrats’ Commitment to Campaign Finance Reform

January 16, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 16, 2013): Today, Ranking Member Robert A. Brady commended his Democratic colleagues Representative Chris Van Hollen, Representative David Price, Representative John Sarbanes, Representative John Yarmuth, and Representative Chellie Pingree for their commitment to restoring the American people's faith in our elections and eradicating the poisoning influence of unchecked campaign spending.

"We just saw the most expensive election ever in the history of our country and there is no indication that spending will decrease in 2014," said Brady. "Without congressional action, we are coming dangerously close to handing over complete control of our elections to a small number of wealthy individual donors and outside groups. Just as we will fight every day to prevent the disfranchisement of even one eligible voter, we stand committed to ensuring our citizens' voices are never drowned out by rampant campaign spending. H.R. 268, H.R. 269, and H.R. 270 will restore integrity to our elections, ensuring all citizens are able to participate in the political process."
