Morelle Statement Supporting Officers Who Served on January 6
WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued the following statement in support of the police officers who served on January 6, 2021, after the Department of Justice’s decision to settle a lawsuit brought by the family of an insurrectionist:
“Once again, Donald Trump and his Republican enablers have disregarded the police officers who risked—and in some cases gave—their lives to defend Congress and our democracy on January 6, 2021. This settlement insults the dedicated officers who protected them while they hid from a violent, Trump-incited mob. Republicans frequently call themselves the ‘party of law enforcement,’ but actions speak louder than words.”
