Morelle Statement on Republican Attempt to Jam Through Trump’s Election Takeover

WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued this statement following reports of a Republican plan to use the reconciliation process to force through unpopular voter suppression tools like the SAVE America Act:
 
“This scheme is not about protecting our elections. It’s the latest, desperate attempt by the President’s minions in Congress to make it harder for eligible Americans to vote. At a moment when Congress should be addressing real, urgent challenges—from the ongoing strain on our airports to long-overdue reforms at DHS and ICE—Republicans are choosing to advance a partisan power grab designed to serve one deranged individual, not the American people.”
