Morelle Issued Statement on the Federal Election Commission on Life Support

April 30, 2025

WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued this statement following FEC Commissioner Allen Dickerson’s resignation:

“A functioning FEC is essential to providing the American people with transparency about who is seeking to influence our votes and our government. At a time when our government is captured by the wealthy and the well-connected, the FEC cannot be sidelined.”

Background:

Commissioner Dickerson’s resignation reduced the Commission below the threshold of four needed to conduct the agency’s responsibilities, as required by the Federal Election Campaign Act. Dickerson’s term expired today. He was nominated by President Trump on September 16, 2020.
