House Administration Dems Expose GOP’s Sham January 6 “Investigation” and Debunk Dangerous Lies in New Report
On January 6 Anniversary, Morelle Commits to Defending “heroic work of the Select Committee and those charged with keeping us safe every day.”
WASHINGTON — Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), the top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, issued a statement after releasing a report about the Committee on House Administration’s January 6 Investigative Activities during the 118th Congress, which was written to provide a truthful account of the events that happened on January 6, 2021, and debunk lies told about the Select Committee’s investigation and its members.
“We must never forget what happened on January 6, 2021, when an armed mob attacked the U.S. Capitol and attempted to stop the peaceful transfer of power on behalf of Donald J. Trump. More than 140 law enforcement officers were seriously injured, and five officers lost their lives protecting the Capitol, the people inside, and our democracy. While my Republican colleagues continue on their path of denialism and lies, I will relentlessly push back on efforts to undercut the heroic work of the Select Committee and those charged with keeping us safe every day.”
The report entitled, “The Committee on House Administration’s January 6 Investigative Activities in the 118th Congress” specifically provides the American people with:
- a rebuttal of the numerous false allegations in the Chairman Loudermilk’s “Interim Report” with actual evidence;
- a truthful account of the events of January 6, 2021, based on the voluminous evidentiary record;
- the facts about the Select Committee’s thorough investigation and the ethical conduct of its Members;
- details of the Republican majority’s efforts to rewrite the history of the January 6 attack, including sworn statements from nonpartisan Capitol security officials detailing how the Republican Majority jeopardized the security of the Capitol and all those within it;
- additional evidence demonstrating Donald J. Trump’s responsibility for the horrors of January 6, 2021, through both overt acts and his failure to act during the crisis;
- identification of the critical issues ignored by the Committee and Oversight Subcommittee majority as it prioritized covering up Donald J. Trump’s attack on the Constitution, the Congress, and the Country.
