Extreme MAGA Republicans Vote Against Military Voters
Today, at the Committee on House Administration markup on the Big Lie bill, Committee Republicans voted against an amendment that provides more information to service members on how to vote, where to vote, and their options to cast their ballot from home which would then be accessible on the website vote.gov.
While three-quarters of active military members are eligible to vote absentee under Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), the remaining quarter of military members voting at home deserve information about the mechanics of when, how, and where to register and vote, to the same extent as their colleagues. A source of accessible information is particularly important for younger service members returning home from deployment, who may never have had the opportunity to vote outside of the UOCAVA system.
The Big Lie bill is an anti-voter, corporate money, and extremist bill designed to appease election deniers. It is based on misinformation, restricts the freedom to vote, burdens local election officials, and expands dark money.
