Extreme MAGA Republicans Vote Against Early Voting
Today, at the Committee on House Administration markup on the Big Lie bill, Committee Republicans voted against an amendment introduced by Subcommittee on Elections Ranking Member Terri Sewell, that establishes at least 14 days of early voting beginning on the 15th day before the date of the election.
“Having only one day to vote means if you have errands to run, if you have a job that doesn’t give you time off, it makes it really difficult to vote. This amendment is very common sense…this along with other measures like absentee voting and same day voter registration will help ensure that every voter has a chance to vote when it is possible for them,” said Rep. Terri Sewell at the markup.
The Big Lie bill is an anti-voter, corporate money, and extremist bill designed to appease election deniers. It is based on misinformation, restricts the freedom to vote, burdens local election officials, and expands dark money.
